Cargo at Newark Liberty

Whether it's textiles from Asia, or flowers from Holland,
EWR’s air cargo capacity is expanding at an astounding rate
to keep up with the airport's increasing cargo needs. With worldwide
cargo expected to nearly triple in the next two decades, EWR has
joined the race to provide more efficient and spacious cargo handling
facilities at EWR.
Added to the cargo facilities opened in 2001 by Continental
Airlines and United Airlines, the Port Authority expanded its cargo
capacity at EWR even more in 2003 with the construction of a new
142,000 square-foot facility. When combined with existing cargo
space at EWR, cargo space increased by approximately 17.5% to 1.38
million square feet, augmenting the airport's recognized role as
a major hub for express carriers.
Being the overnight small package center for the entire
metropolitan area, EWR offers a full range of short-, medium- and
long-haul services to many domestic and international destinations.
Located in Newark, New Jersey, directly adjacent to the Port Newark/Elizabeth
Marine Terminals, EWR also provides fast, efficient air-sea connections.
EWR lies only sixteen miles from lower Manhattan, twenty miles from
Kennedy, seventeen miles from LaGuardia, and is situated at the
center of the major lines of transportation for the Northeast Corridor.
