The Port of New York and New Jersey with an expansive network
of facilities is the gateway to the most concentrated and
affluent consumer market in
the
world. The Port Authority
of New York and New Jersey manages Port Newark, Elizabeth-Port
Authority Marine Terminal, Howland Hook Marine Terminal,
the Auto Marine Terminal, Brooklyn-Port Authority Marine
Terminal and Red Hook Terminal. Combined with the privately
owned and operated Global
Marine Terminal, these facilities
make up the Port
of New York and New Jersey. With more cargo handling capacity
than any other port in the eastern United States, they
include some of the most productive, high-volume cargo
operations in the world. In 2006, more than
30 million tons of oceanborne general cargo move through
our
port. During this period, the Port
also handled 5 million TEUs
(twenty-foot equivalent units) of loaded and unloaded
cargo.
In addition, there are three passenger cruise terminals
in the Port. Two are located in of New York : Manhattan
Terminal
in Manhattan, and the
newly constructed Brooklyn
Cruise Terminal in Brooklyn,
the third is Cape
Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, New Jersey.
