Project Description In the aftermath of 9/11, the station was not in operation because it could not function as a train terminal (trains could not enter from one tunnel and exit from another). In addition, the existing platforms could only accommodate seven cars. Rock tunneling and the installation of crossover tracks west of Exchange Place Station to enable trains to reverse direction. Platforms were extended to allow for future 10-car trains
