Welcome to the Port Authority

Welcome to the Port Authority, where dynamism and diversity characterize our every working day. We are pleased that you are considering this great agency as the place where you can learn, grow, and thrive in both a professional and personal setting.

We have engineers and architects, police officers and electricians, accountants and lawyers, among others on our staff. Together, they run the nation’s largest airport system, a series of major tunnels and bridges, a large rail network, and the east coast’s biggest port - much of the infrastructure that keeps this busy region moving and supports the agency’s mission.

At the same time, we’re building for the region’s future. From the $16 billion construction program at The World Trade Center, to the $7 billion Access to the Region’s Core (ARC) tunnel under the Hudson, to the billions more we’ll invest in the coming years at our airports and ports, Port Authority employees are literally changing the face of the New York-New Jersey metropolitan region.

Our work safeguards the region’s people and economy, as residents and businesses alike prosper on secure, efficient transportation options. And as we push to expand service on our PATH train system, our AirTrain links to our airports, and our freight rail network at our Ports - which together take millions of cars and trucks off the road each year - we are helping to safeguard our environment as well.

All this and more will be open to you at the Port Authority. We’re excited that you’re considering a place on our team. Read on to learn more about the Port Authority and how our leadership, vision, and innovative ideas are shaping a region.
